Working with Bristol’s students and young people

As a therapist working with young adults, I understand how challenging the transition into independence can be. Whether it’s the pressure of academic life, the complexity of building new relationships, or the emotional weight of living on your own for the first time, this stage of life can bring up feelings of anxiety, self-doubt, and even isolation. My goal is to support students through these challenges using Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), a focused and effective approach that helps resolve emotional difficulties at their core.

Many students experience a range of feelings that can interfere with their ability to fully engage with university life—whether it’s a fear of failure, past unresolved issues, or the strain of trying to meet expectations. ISTDP is particularly well-suited to addressing these concerns because it works quickly and directly, helping you confront and process difficult emotions in a safe and supportive space. This isn’t about learning to cope with the symptoms; it’s about getting to the root of what’s holding you back.

I know students are busy, and that’s one reason why ISTDP is so effective. It can produce meaningful results in a relatively short amount of time, offering you insights and emotional breakthroughs that empower you to make real, lasting changes. With a deeper understanding of your emotions, you’ll be better equipped to handle the pressures of university life and beyond.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or simply stuck, I’m here to help you navigate these challenges and build emotional resilience. Together, we can work through the issues holding you back, so you can move forward with greater confidence and emotional freedom.Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
